The Lake (2023) is a handmade artist book exploring the relationship between people and their natural environment and how the visceral connection between psyche and place shapes identity, memory and the perception of time. A meditation on the significance of place, the photographs in The Lake were taken over an 8-year period at a lake that has multigenerational significance to my family. Delicate and highly layered, The Lake explores collective story-making and subjective landscapes formed through tradition. All of the photographs in The Lake were shot on film in multiple formats and printed in various alternative photographic techniques. The book was constructed with five different Japanese papers and features two richly pigmented fold-outs, an inner booklet, a hand-sewn binding and printed slipcase. The book includes a giclée print.
